Undeloher Hof Willkommen im

Hiking Routes

The Undeloher Hof is located right at the entrance to the 230 km² car-free nature reserve “Lüneburg Heath.”
From our doorstep, you can set off on unforgettable experiences with our own carriages into the heath.
Alternatively, you can explore the heath on your own – on foot or by bike.

We would be delighted to share some suggestions with you:

On the Scenic Carriage Route to Wilsede

Follow the carriage path to Wilsede, passing beautiful juniper groves, traditional beehives (filled with Lüneburg “Bogenstülper” hives), and an old sheep barn.
A picturesque birch avenue then leads you to Wilsede, the historic heath village where you can truly feel the charm of bygone times. Here you may visit the museum and take some time to relax before heading back.

Length: approx. 9 km

Via Wilsede to the Totengrund and the Steingrund

As in Tour 1, you first walk to Wilsede.
From there, continue through the village and along a charming old pasture forest avenue to the Totengrund, a relic of the Saale Ice Age. Here you will often meet the shepherd with his Heidschnucke sheep.

If you turn right at the Totengrund, you reach the Steingrund – an expansive, dreamy juniper grove where fairy-tale worlds seem to unfold. From here, you can make your way back via Wilsede and along the Old Salt Road.

Length: approx. 11 km

On the Way Back over Wilseder Berg:

For those who would like to explore a bit more of the Lüneburg Heath, take a detour towards the Wilseder Berg, the summit of the highest hill in the North German Plain. From here, you can enjoy a beautiful view over the wide, open landscape.

You will also be standing at the very spot where Carl Friedrich Gauß once carried out his land survey. On the other side of the hill, you will find your way back to Undeloh along the Old Salt Road.

Circular Tour through the Radenbach Valley

The starting point is the old carriage path to Wilsede, but at the first opportunity you turn left towards Sudermühlen.
Here you will discover a wonderfully varied heath landscape: with old, weather-bent pines, large junipers, and the damp meadows of the Radenbach stream.

Along the way, you may encounter the large grazing animals that also help maintain the heath landscape: the Wilsede Red cattle and Dülmen wild horses.

You can either continue on to Sudermühlen (a former mill) or take the Prof. Maetzig Trail, which forms a circular route leading you back to the carriage path towards Undeloh.
